Out-of-Scope Considerations
The activities ASTM E2018 excludes from a baseline assessment: probing and dismantling, calculations, measurements to confirm owner data, unsafe access.

Section 12 of E2018-24 lists what the baseline assessment does not include, in two groups. Activity exclusions: removing or repositioning materials and finishes, exploratory probing, dismantling or operating equipment, engineering calculations to determine adequacy or capacity, measurements or take-offs to confirm information provided by others, entering unsafe areas, and opining on equipment that was shut down beyond its appearance. Subject exclusions: environmental assessment (asbestos, lead, radon, mold sampling, indoor air quality), seismic and flood analysis, energy performance, full accessibility surveys, and any warranty, guarantee or code-compliance statement.
PCRs restate the list in their own words in a section of the same name, so the reader knows the boundary. Subjects from the second group can be added by agreement as additional considerations, in their own section, listed as deviations. See additional considerations.
